Go to system preferences in the dock and choose the quicktime settings under internet and network to get the codecs.

Got it, thanks smokey... So my H264 clip was accepted by the curator. But according to phantomewo "not many agencies accept" it. Should I expect it not to sell for that reason alone (leaving aside for the moment whether it is a good clip or not)? Should I re-encode in MJPEG?

I would reencode if it is just one file. The problem with the h2.64 is not many edit systems like it. And you want your stuff to be usable by as many people as possible.

to make a custom preset in compressor I usually just use the inspector window to change the setting of on of the default presets, & the save it under a new name. You just set it to be motion JPEG at 95%-100% or what ever floats your boat and then you hit save as.

I found a neat program worth buy, NOT STOCK RELATED, for making home dvd's from your avchd. It is called convertxtoDVD. It allows you to drop the mts files right into the program and it will convert and burn them to dvd standard. No other program needed. Works with all media files!

Guys,

You probably mean 25 Mb per second, not 25MB per second.
These are bits, not bytes.
