Tape fallout/blackouts

I managed to edit it a little bit to fix it. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, knock on wood.

Scott why not review the tape in your fx1000 in the play back mode.

I have had this a few times, and in my case it's been as Jake said, where the PC can't handle the data as it arrives from the camera. So far, a re-capture from tape has sorted it out each time.

On a related matter, how often should a head cleaner tape be run through the camera?

Well I would say if you are not having any problems I wouldn't worry too much about it. Especially if you are using new tapes each time.
I was running a couple of Sony cams with the same brand Sony minidv tapes(new) doing weddings and would still occasionally get dropout 2-3 frame glitches from time to time. Weddings are one off events so I used to run a cleaning tape through them(10 seconds) every few weddings which was probably overkill. I would also take the camcorders in annually and had the heads cleaned professionally which I imagine is kinder to the heads than running a cleaning tape over them. Camera's are at 800 record hours and still running fine.

I only clean the heads when the camera askes, which was 1 time on my hv30. This is going through 9 tapes, and the odd thing is that it happened on tape like 2 or 3.

Unless the heads had some crud on them after manufacture...
Chuck a head cleaner through it and see how it goes. What tapes are you using?

Sony PRM60. I don't think it is an issue. Just a random occurance.

Scott have run that tape in play back in the fx1000?

I have not Jason, not at that specific point. The fx1000 is the camera I used to transfer the tape to pc.

If your head gets dirty does it usually crap out all the time, or just randomly?
