Multiple Formats

I want to offer my HD clip at SD size for a lower price...how is this done? Is there multple choice for a clip on Pond 5 for the buyer? Like $50 HD $30 SD...

Been discussed a lot of times. Look through threads for this subject. For many we are very happy that there is no downsizing. I'm glad! P5 is still best money maker and I'm sure this is because of that. I also believe the buyer gets a much better product this way and if needed they can downsize to their hearts content.

But do we lose out on sales? I bet we do by not offering SD sizes. I just hate the thought of putting that much work into down sizing every thing I have just to charge less for it.

I have mixed feelings about offering different sizes. It does make it harder for the buyer to choose sometimes. For instance a lot of 1080 projects seem to be downresed to 720p.... If they were all the same price it might be OK. Really should the resolution affect its price at all? maybe, but I don't think so,,,,

but the different sizes may make it more convienent. Istock photo (IN my opinion) is like a fast food stock company, their approach is very nonartist friendly, and In my opinion it is designed to cater to buyers who may not be fully competent. Im not sure if I want to cater to buyers who do not know how to downres, if the buyers are unprofessional that may lead to other problems.

I have kinda the same feeling, a 180 versus 720 HD really has the same value. A SD really also has the same value, all of these are broadcast quality so value is identical. A web size that is truly downsized so it cannot be up-converted for larger size use also has a very definite value and if that is what the buyer needs it has equal value. With the blurring of internet and TV and DVD movies and live stream video, all sizes have inherently the same value and in fact web size may have more value than full size HD. Down sizing is a convenience to the buyer and really should make little or no difference on value. Agencies that downsize and then give the web versions away are ot thinking of production value. If a web clip is used in a high end internet advertisement that costs a lot to produce or markets a product should it be worth less than a 1081i that is used for a similar TV ad? Not really.
