Free files

One thing that might attract more people to the site would be a free download.
Perhaps when editing the info for our uploads, there will be a checkbox that allows that item to be offered as a free download.
You could then write code that rotates and offers a free download a week and randomly selects from those that have been offered, never selecting the same one more than once (or once a year).
I have several that I would "tag" as being offered free for a week. I'm sure others do too.

Great, thanks guys - this is something that we've got in the works, and will be rolling out with the next update.
Keep the ideas coming! :)

Instead of an outright "free" DL how about something that is in relation to number of clips purchased by the purchaser. It could then be tied to the seller's portfolio. If a purchaser buys 10 clips from say "Varius" then they get one free also only from Varius's clips. This way the submitters would be more encouraged to UL great clips and they would be rewarded for doing so. This encourages better uploads and rewards purchasers instead of a free give-away to purchasers that really are not active in purchasing. Rewards work is better than welfare offerings.

Free clips as a reward for purchaser loyalty is a great idea.

I wouldn't mind seeing both ideas implemented.
Buy "n" get "x" free.
And allow us to tag items as just being available for free during the specified period (a week maybe).
The weekly free download will bring people back to the site on a "weekly" basis where they might be inclined to browse a few more items and buy one or two.
The "buy n get x free" would be great when you want to reward people for bulk purchases (and maybe get them to buy that one more item in order to qualify for an extra free one).

I just got an idea... Or that might be already implemented but I don't know for that.
It would be nice to have some groups of files and to make discount for all that bunch... I.e. The same subject from different angles or different pans... I have 4 liquid whirl effect clips and I can sell RF licence on them all with 25% or 33% discount. The example goes more far to 7 clips of milling coffee or 4 clips about mixing coffee. It is the same buyer so why don't give him what he needs with lower price?
What do you think about that?

I agree, a complete free give away is not the answer. I've owned five restaurants in two different states. Time-to-time the franchisor would do give aways and all it did was give things away. Much more effective to give them a free drink with the meal type coupon.
.
Sooooo, if they buy three clips from the same "artist" on the same day then giving one from the same "artist" (lower or equal value or cost) is much better and does encourage purchases. I have never seen where a give away really helps in the long run. Well it does help the buyer but doesn't develope further sales. Most buyers are already buying somewhere else, they already know the game better than most of us. When the give away is used they go back to the best prices and quality ... pond5 has that already.
