I know a lot of people sell stock photos, but does anyone here sell glamour or art photography?

They make 50% commission for the prints and the prices are a lot higher than stock prices. Alamy looks OK but you have to have a ton of photos, Istock pays pennies, and you have to have a ton. BUT if you sell glamour photography you can make just a few super awesome photos and supposely make a lot. But the catch is the photo has to be awesome....

So does anyone do this? Can you make a lot of money?

Im very good at photoshop too, Ive taken 3 advanced online courses in photoshop as well. Im asking this because my 5d has this cool bonus feature, not only does it do video but it takes pictures too! Wow!!! I wonder if it has tetris too!

Up until last year I showed my art photography in a few Houston Galleries.

But that was until I really got into stock video.
The gallery stuff was fun because I got to talk about my work and meet people but it was a money pit. The only person making money was the gallery owner.
Most months I broke even, but I was tired of just breaking even.

I never did the glamour stuff though. That may make some money.

But with the online gallery I don't think you have to pay anything. 50% commission on a $100 art print is 50 bucks. If you spend all day working on one really cool photo it might be worth it. I don't know.... I guess it depends on your following etc. and some other factors. But Im thinking about making 50 "art" photos, or dramatic photos and putting them on online art galleries, and then linking to my website (which would link to pond5 as well). I probably should make an official website for myself .

You're right, the online sites is less over head and if you don't pay anything up front, then what's to loose.
The thing I would want to know is do they advertise? Or just hope people will find them via a search engine. If its the search engine, you may do better on your own, at least you have the power to get people to your site.

That was the one thing about the gallery, at least I knew the owner would advertise monthly in trade mags and newspapers to bring in customers.
If I didn't sell, it was my fault for not providing something people wanted.

I don't know a whole lot about it... But I know the site gets a LOT of traffic, and people "fav" your work (make it a favorite) and that puts it higher in the search rankings, also number of views boosts it. I think the key is to make niche stuff, and make it dramatic so people will click on it and fav it. Then other people will look through your gallery and maybe they fav some of your other stuff.

Its all popularity based, so you have to have quite a few, and you have to develop a following,,,,, but its mostly automatic, and you don't have to do much work once its up. You just have to wait a while for money to come in.

I don't know how easy it is....but I do know that those sites are very popular, probably even more popular than stock photo sites.
