I've just made a new blog post. Might be helpful for someone.
Simple method on how to remove 100s of hot pixels from DSLR or any other footage at once! Should work with any software that support alpha or luma matte.

In many cases if you export to photojpeg, it will take care of itself as the compression eliminates hot pixels most of the time. If it is a photo sequence for time lapse, one can do it in the RAW processor prior to importing the sequence (healing method). But this method is cool if you always use the same camera with the same hot pixel map. Nice job.

I have not tried the method yet, but I dare to suggest the following: taking a dark frame, i.e. shoot with the cap on and you get the most accurate hot pixel map. Perhaps the image would need conversion to black and white and little pp.

@ionescu very good idea! I think you have to add some noise reduction too, to remove FPN and sensor noise.
