The Google game

I was curious to see how much time it takes Google to log the entry of a new clip into Pond5. So this is what I did:

As soon as Curator approved a clip, I created a Google alert. This is how I made the alert:

I opened page:
http://www.google.com/alerts?hl=en&gl=&source=alertsmail

Then I copied the title of the clips and pasted it with quotation marks (!) in the "search term" field. For example, do this (quotation marks are important):
"Ceratitis capitata, the Mediterranean fruit fly"
not this:
Ceratitis capitata, the Mediterranean fruit fly

Then I set the "type" field to "comprehensive".
Then I set the "how often" field to "as it happens".
Then I tell google to what email to deliver the search results.
Then I submit the alert.

For example, the clip was approved on May 20th and a Google alert was promptly created. Now let's wait and see when I receive the email from Google. I will tel you guys as soon as it happens.

For some reason I cannot figure out, the above mentioned method did not work.

I still wanted to find out how much time it takes google to log the new entry in P5. So I copied the title and manually googled it. The result was unbelievable. It takes only a few hours to become a part of the google database.

How do you do that, P5?

The question is ... how the hell google does that!? Such a huge amount of data to process 24/7.
