Shooting footage in Las Vegas

I am planning a trip to Vegas to shoot some footage and was trying to research the laws out there and could not find anything.

Do any of you know the legality of shooting footage of the exteriors of casinos?

Just look like a tourist and you shouldn't have any problems. Of course you need to realize it will mostly qualify for editorial use only.

I saw some guy running around with an FX1000 while I was there. Also, you can have the camera in the casino, you just can't shoot video. You can take photos, which I thought was weird, just no video.

Thank you very much for your input. I was asking because I have been harassed before in L.A. for shooting buildings from a public sidewalk and it kinda rattled me. I wanted to make sure I understood the laws as best I can before shooting in Las Vegas.

You'll get yelled at eventually wherever you go... you just get over it and move on :-). Don't let it discourage you at another location.

My years in Casino Security may give a different opinion of what has been asked and suggested:
Generally you can do Video and or Pix if you keep the General Public out of the photos. Even inside the Casino.... hard to do but that was the rule of thumb.
Some Casino attendees do not want to be recognized as being there, if Video and Pix are later published. Also asking permission works very well. Please also helps !

Remember that many of the stock agencies will not accept them due to possible property copyright. When I was there this year for the NAB I submitted and most agencies rejected them. I tried not to highlight the individual casinos and even were timelapse driving down the strip. Wasted a lot of time uploading a lot of footage ;(
