I want to start collecting lighting. Christmas is coming up. Does anyone have recommendations for lighting for video? What to get, what to not waste my money on...etc? And I am thinking about a green screen....any recommendations there? Thank you in advance -Sandi

Hi Sandi,
I would go with a daylight balanced fluorescent light kit. At least two lights with soft boxes to start. The lights should have the tungsten equivalent of 300-500 watts each.
Halogen is too hot so I tend to stay from that.
More lights if you want to light the background too.

Green screen, well, I have problems with that. but technically I know you have to have the subject and background very well light with no shadows.
So if you want to do green screen I would have at least two lights on the subject and two on the background.
Do you have Adobe After Effects? That has the best tools for doing green screen.
