Editorial Footage

Hello there. We’re new to Pond5, though we’ve been contributing to other sites for a while now.

We absolutely love the uploading process here. The review response time is commendable, and shows a dedication and respect toward contributors that other sites should take note of. Thank you.

Regarding “editorial footage”. I’ve edited for news programs and produced VNRs in the past, so I’m familiar with its use/usefulness. What I’m wondering is if there’s any reason some contributors might NOT want to offer editorial use for clips?

It would seem that as long as your clips have editorial value, the “editorial” button in the Categories section should always be selected, as it only increases your chances for sales. Or am I missing something?

Cheers,

Jeffrey

That's a good point. I would be wary of close-ups of specific faces or any children who could be identified - especially in the USA or Europe. Right to privacy trumps press freedom and reasonable use there, depending on the context. Just because you can upload them here, doesn't mean you are protected from being sued. Or am I wrong?

I think you should tick the boxes that come closest to the subject of the clip. If everybody checks the editorial box there is not extra value, since all clips will be tagged as editorial.
