transcoder

need an advise on a motion jpeg B transcoder to use...
I have QT Pro (I'm on a PC platform) and from there I can have nice photo-Jpeg fies of my progressive footage.
BUT for all my interlaced footage I can't really find a (good) transcoder, as QT pro is not offering me this codec option. Any suggestions ?

MpegStreamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) can transcode practically to any format (excep flash, I think)

You can use photo-Jpeg as well for interlaced footage. If you use the contact page and ask Kennon or Tom they can help you with the rest of codecs for QT Pro.

Had the same problem with QT Pro when I load it on computer. But as I said you can use photo-Jpeg. For interlace its Motiom-Jpeg B.

searching around the forum I've noticed that other codecs are in discussion, dose pond5 accept other codecs as well?

Hello hans_g,

I use MpegStreamclip daily and there are no known quality issues. The best things are that you can create many presets for different transcodings and us this program in bach mode. And it is free :) There are so many versions of MpegStreamClip and QT Alternatives that sometimes it is difficult to figure what to use.

stick with photo-jpeg for progressive footage and with Motion jpeg-B with interlaced footage and you'll never have any complaints.
