Just passed the 1000 clip online club

Thanks to the reviewers, I just passed the 1000 clips on-line here at P5. I was hoping to make it by the end of last year so didn't miss it by far. Sales are coming up and I have high hopes for all of us here at P5. Thanks to the guys and gals at P5 and all the "artists" here how have helped so much in the forums with suggestions and motivation. Thanks Ya'll. Don

For my own education, I have 190 files online now. I've gotten a few sales but at what point would you say you are getting consistent sales?

WOW, now I have to go back over the last year and try to remember how sales went. As my memory goes the sales really didn't really start until I had several hundred on line. The biggest move to sales was probably after 700-800 clips. It's really hard to say what helped most. I look at some of my first clips and even some now also, and see the quality needed improvement. Also P5 has made some moves to better market the site. Sales are still hit and miss but having a couple days in Jan with multiple sales helps encourage me to continue. I really think sales will improve as P5 makes positive changes, but it will take several hundred clips to make a consistant sales opportunity. I need to keep going to pay for two HD cameras I bought in the last year, the Canon HV-20 and XH-A1. Not coming close to paying for them yet.

If P5 will update the opening page it will help. The large digital photos above the new submission clips really needs updating, it's kinda stagnate. The review is kinda slow, but P5 is responsive in answering questions. P5 you're doing great and I really like the submission process and keywording. We're patiently waiting for the grand release but some cosmetic front page changes would be nice to see.

Thanks for the update and inspiration!
I too just upgraded to a Sony FX1 so I have a "long" way to go to pay off that camera.
But with some lighting help, I'm trying to get my videos more of a professional quality.

I did just have my first payout here and that felt very good!

I somehow managed to get 2100 clips accepted last year - much to my own surprise. ;-) I'm hoping to add another 3K this year (which means an average of 10 per day... I must be mad...)

Anyway, looking at my income from all stock footage sites, I already made the amount the HVX200 cost me - however with all the extras I bought for it (tripod, extra memory, tele/wideangle extender, batteries, etc.) it'll still take another year at least to break even.

I really hope for the best for P5. I don't really like what I'm seeing on other sites at the moment.

What's been the average time for accepting videos? I've waited a few days now, I've heard that it takes around 7 days, this generally the case?

I love P5 and the potential for it, but I do a LOT more financially at other sites with a lot less--even when I had 100 or less clips online, and even with a lower royalty rate. P5 could be really great, but I think it has along ways to go.

I agree with some of your sentiment...I think it really comes down to what you put into it. Pond5 is far superior to the other stock companies on the back end and payment side. (IMO)
