XDCAM

Hey Everyone,

How many people here at Pond5 are shooting XDCAM? I just added a few XDCAM clips (not approved yet).

What do you think are the best encoding settings for Pond5?

Hey - we're shooting XDCAM.

I thought I would cut the clip on Avid and export as HDV

- your thoughts?

XDCAM, like other HD/HDV formats, should be prepped as MotionJPEG for interlaced footage and PhotoJPEG for progressive scan. Make sure that the quality setting is high enough that there is no noticeable image degradation.

Hey Lathe,

I'm shooting on an XDCAM 330, mounted on Sachtler Video 18 tripod and Hague Multijib.

It's a good format, love the workflow. Soon as I get some money in I will trade it in for the new PDW700 which uses 2/3 lenses and compresses at 50Mbps.

My preferred encoding is 98% quality PJPEG for progressive, and MJPEG for interlaced.

Man. I'm pretty impressed with the images I get with my 35Mbps...I bet 50Mbps will be pretty amazing...
