Some suggestions for the Artist Resources:

Since the tag cloud on the front page is pretty up to date, I don't think we really need the "Search Terms" tab in Artist Resources any more. The info there rarely changes since it has such a huge history to deal with.

On the Overview tab I'd like to see "Nbr of clips online" broken down into Video, Music, SoundFX (should be easy since you have that on the front page).

I'd like to see a new tab added for "Last 100 clips purchased" that is updated at least hourly. The problem with "best this week" is that a lot of clips don't make the list.

Is there a way to post the searched terms in the Artist's Resources page so contributing artists are taken out of the equation? In other words can I get stats for searched terms from people who only purchase or browse?
and to make that list of info viewable based on a a selectable span of time, say 1 week 2 weeks etc.?

I think it would help buyers and artists spot needs and trends.

Just knowing someone searched for a term doesn't really tell me a whole lot of info.

How far back does the search terms list look?

I still think that using a list of "buyer" search terms to aid in keywording lead to spam. Many people will start using the most searched words in clips that have nothing to do with the term or word to get views. IMHO the buyer search words should not be available to aid in keywording. I know many disagree , I respect that, just hope it is used correctly.

So the terms are keywords from clips that sold, or they are what was in the search history of a person that bought?

I understand Don's point. I just want a way to provide buyers with what they are searching for. I think many times the purchases here may be ones of convenience (cheaper, quicker, better, than doing some of the stuff production wise yourself). And in that sense if it is not here when they are looking they may continue to search elsewhere, or do it themselves.

But knowing what buyers are searching for helps for future sales as well.

If it takes the keywords from clips sold I see some benefit there. But it would be really cool to know what was searched for and not found, that way artist's can work to provide a service to buyers in the long run.

Is there a real difference to people spamming keywords if they are coming from clips sold or clips searched? If you spam you can spam from the info from either list.

But knowing a time run of when the searches took place would also be beneficial.

Is that list generated on a monthly basis? Or how often is it updated, and how far back does it look?

The "hot" search terms on the home page are generated once per day based on search terms that resulted in actual sales. I don't know how far they go back, though to create the order.

One major caution I would give is this... Search terms give you a good indication of what people are looking for "right now", but not what they will be looking for two days or a week from now when you get new clips up. If you rely on search terms and the best selling this week/month lists to give you inspiration then you are working on data that is past, not present or future.

I understand the dated nature of the data. Like I said that's why it would be cool to see what was searched and not found, so artists could work to provide material for the future buyers.
