Noone is gonna answer the money question because it doesnt make much sense anyway.Ask how many sales give or take and you might get answers.

A hundred clips probably none. A thousand clips a little. Several thousand it's worth while. More than ten thousand quality clips not bad. When a new Artists complains about no sales and they have a couple dozen or even a couple hundred, well totally expected to not have any sales. There are tens of millions of clips for sale. Even with several thousand they better be great quality and subjects that are needed by a producer.

So what to shoot and what are selling. Don't waste your time looking at others portfolios, that means nothing. Watch TV, movies and advertising; everyone of them are full of stock clips. That shows what subjects are worth shooting and how they are used. Stop worrying about what others sell.

I make a living off of my stock video, earned 70k last year in stock video sales. Pond5 is a good part of that.

Like people said previously, I would suggest you need 5000+ clips to make a living. I have 500 videos uploaded , and have averaged about 2 sales a month over the last 6 years. Some of that slowness could be down to the minimal keywords I entered (I get lazy) it's paramount you have padded out keywords and descriptive titles, but you become almost brain dead after entering hundreds and hundreds, Almost worth employing a junior data entry person to input all the details to save your sanity. Some sites suggest keywords to add which is very helpful, not sure about P5 haven't uploaded here for awhile.
Good luck if you go the route of making it your income, t'was my goal 6 years ago but I didn't foresee the massive time input required for entries and maintenance, especially when you have several sites on the go and are drip feeding the clips as you make them.
