Annoyed with template - Hidden Layers I cannot adjust - Can anyone help?

I recently purchased the "Simple Clear Intro Opener" AE template, and there are some hidden layers or something that don't allow me to adjust everything I'd like to. In fact, I've deleted EVERY Comp in the final RENDER Composition, and yet there is media that plays when I drag the playhead from the beginning of the canvas timeline to the end. There are pre-comps in bins that I can access and edit, that allow me to drag/drop my media, which will then appear in this invisible comp in the RENDER Composition, but I am not able to adjust any of the timings, which is really making me regret paying for this. Has anyone else used this template and experienced the same thing? (I'm using AE CC 2017.2)
This is the first time I'm experiencing something like this, and I've been using AE templates from this library and others for a few years now. Is there some obvious/stupid thing that I'm missing that will allow me to access and adjust these hidden layers? (There are at least two.)

Hi, on the timeline there is an icon of a guys head with a big nose it's grouped together with the motion blur icon. Click that and you'll be able to unhide those hidden layers. Here's a link that might help as well https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/layers.html#show_and_hide_layers_in_the_timeline_panel.

After Effects templates can be pretty complex. I love this about AE templates.. you can learn a lot getting familiair with projectz. How is it structured? Are there hidden layers ? (like above mentioned by jobert). Or do you need to unlock layers to edit them and to get deeper into the project?
@Dave: have you found a Solution to the problem?
