Pro res or photo jpeg

I'm leery of color correcting any clips. I figure that, as an editor myself, I will do the color correction when I get the clip. I can't assume I know how some other editor/colorist will want the clip to look. So I upload clips without any correction or re-encoding, with one exception: If there is talking or recognizable sounds, I will strip the audio and re-encode using my software's "smart render" feature that is supposed to keep the existing encoding whenever possible.

Then again, I haven't made any sales yet. ;-)

Funny how this conversation comes up over the years. But never comes up in the photo side.
Do you see raw from camera photographs? Nope, bright colorful and a lot of over saturated stuff.
But come to the video side and people want to talk about uploading right from the camera.

You're assuming that everyone that downloads a video knows how to correctly color correct or has the time to do it.
When I say I color grade, I make minimal changes.
If someone is making choices on videos to buy and sees a couple that will fit, but one is bright and colorful and the other isn't, they just make a choice based on the looks.

A few years ago I made an experiment with uploading some video right from camera and again with color corrected video.
To date, the right from camera videos hasn't sold or hasn't sold much. So much so I'm thinking of going back to those and color correct and re-upload.
One that did sell I happened to see it in a TV commercial. The video looked just like I uploaded it, without any correction. I couldn't believe it. But it made me think that people are sometimes lazy, don't know how or just don't have the time.

So, your comment about not making sales, maybe you should rethink that.
But this is just my thoughts based on what has worked for me since the beginning, do what is best for your business.

I've been thought few days ago to upload footages natively from my camera which is BMD ProResHQ filmlog profile, and after some research I decided to color correct my footages first. I think not every buyer have an understanding about color grading/correction.
