What would it cost to make a video clip

What would it cost to the major film producer to make a movie if there was no stock industry? What is a clip worth? Consider things such as: Actors, props, location, script, cameras and operators, time, luck/ skill, taxes, licenses.

You're talking one scene of a movie? or one 15 second b-roll thing?
If its a scene it could be thousands or tens of thousands of dollars depending on location, needing licences, police, actors etc.
If it's b-roll, it still could be expensive. I guess it would be a case by case basis. I don't know how you could price something in general.
I did that once and got into trouble by under estimating the cost based on a general clip without knowing the entire script.

Let's say this typical "but great", clip on P5 has three union actors, cameraman, lighting, location and numberous props can be made for less than $10k if done in Hollywood? Probably not. So my question is the stock industry giving away to much income to the bigger film industry? Can the message get through to producers of clips that there is value to their work?

If these were SAG actors, it would have cost a ton. Day rate etc.
Current SAG day rate for principal actors is $655 per day.
Extras is about $115 per day

Luckily the two Latino actors cost me $160 total, Delores is free except I have to feed her.....
If this was the only clip a customer wanted and I had to put together the props, SAG actors, large radial dolly I used, camera, etc.
I would want $5000 or $6000 since the 3 actors alone would be almost $2000 in this example.
If there wasn't any stock industry and this was for a big player that is.

Of course even if there wasn't a stock industry, there would be ways to cut costs to get this down. Like not using SAG actors that would have cost me almost $2000 by itself.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that we are selling clips online for less than the four people making the clip spend for lunch. I should point out that I don't know what Jake is asking and I should have used one of my own but again I'm sure it will be a bargin compared to industry standards of pay. This also ties into different prices for different qualities of clip size. The subject relevance and importance of a clip should determine the price not just the size needed to project it where it's going to be used.

Jake you left off the cameraman and the lighting specialist, the set and props. They all have to be paid.

i think that prices are lower than film industry standards because what we do it is just mass production.

Like in Jake clip, if he shoot only this one this clip, his costs will be around 200$ for this one clip, but if in this sesion he shoot 100 clips, the cost per clip will go down drastically.

I think that the most of us are trying to have as much good, different clips for lower possible costs, for me thats the reason why i almost only work with my family and friends as actors, and i do all the work with clips (edit, keyword, upload).

What is the clip worth? Before stock, the producer had to make their own clip for one specific use... Want a video of an elephant herd you go to Africa. Now the videographer lives in Africa and makes those clips as an "oh well event " and sells them for a song. Because of luck of where I'm at when a clip is made does not mean that the buyer should disproportionatly share in my good fortune for a great video.
I do agree with you. If there is an elephant in my front yard I will shoot it from every angle possible so as to cover my bases. If the elephant has two heads and is on his way to the butcher it should be worth more if I have the only shot.
