The 3D is not full HD!
LUXORPYRAMID 4 Aug 2010 08:56
Not full HD but maybe the beginning of a revolution, so hopefully in less than 2 years will begin seeing Full HD 3D cameras under $3k. For people that like toys, they can put this one pon Santa's list. With those small lenses, I bet it needs a lot of illumination.

I suggest that Canon EOS 5D mark III will have 60P or 240P and every alternate frame will get an image from a lens similar to the above.

Oohh, very nice idea on the alternative frame method, although they would be 1/60th of a frame of sync... I wonder how noticeable that is(n't)...

Your TV will take care of the synchronization.

The problem with this camera is that the lenses aren't wide enough apart. For proper 3D, the lenses need to be approximately as wide apart as human eyes. This camera "shrinks your head" down to the size of the distance between the lenses, therefore anything on your screen will not appear to be the proper size. It may look cool, but there will be something very unnatural about it. I was auditioning a 3D TV at B*st B*y recently and they had a demo playing which included a shot filmed by a camera mounted down next to the wheels of an old steam locomotive. While the 3D effect was incredible, the scale of the train seemed to be around 1/15 and that was a major distraction I couldn't wrap my mind around. I certainly couldn't enjoy watching an entire movie with this distraction, with all the actors seemingly the size of hobbits.

So Luxor, you think Panasonic's 3D camera is the best thing to come along since apple pie. What good is a 3D camera when it cost anywheres between 2300.00 to 5000.00 for a 3D TV to view ones 3D video? By the time prices drop on 3D TV's that camera will be out dated.

I like the concept not the camera. The idea of having a regular camcorder and just adding a 3D lens. This way you do not have to buy a specialized 3D camera for 3D only.
