How did you feel about your first sale?

How long after the download did your first sale occur?
Did this first sale start the following ones?
Do you set your price or let Pond5 do it automatically to seize all opportunities?
Tell us about your experience during your first sales, it can motivate other subscribers ;-)

It was three months after my my first upload before I made a sale, and I probably had 400 videos uploaded by that time. I was ecstatic with my first sale, and have made a few more since. I actually made my very first sale on Adobe Stock, and I have fewer videos there. However, I've now sold more on Pond5 than on Adobe Stock. I let Pond5 (and Adobe Stock) set my prices. Of the videos I've sold, most were ones that I didn't really think would sell. I have several with many views and a couple of bin loads that have not sold... maybe someday.

Thank you pcreditor and your comparaison with Adobe Stock is a real information for me, because before to start here, i thought about Adobe Stock, thanks. According to me, i think that Pond5 pays more with patience :)

I made my first sale on Pond5 (and everywhere else) three months after my first upload, I had just a few After Effects templates by that time. My feeling was, of course, joy and a great thought that this kind of work was worth doing and I decided not to quit, though I was on the border to do it :)
I used to let Pond5 set my price, but recently, after they started giving too low prices for my works, I decided to set the prices myself.

Thank you Zoritmex. Pond5 changed your prices with huge difference?
You change this from the page where your upload or from your preferences account page ; OPTIMIZED MARKETPLACE PRICING.

Maybe you have changed twice :)

I started November 24, 2008 and had my first sale on P5 on December 8, 2008. It was this clip:

I toyed with P5 setting my prices, but quickly learned that setting my own prices was the way to go.

@AurelPIX I made my first sale after about 3 months too, just like pvreditor, I think we both started around the same time?

Remember the first sale well, i received this incredibly funny notification mail and i ran to the bedroom like an excited 6 year old child and woke my wife up, - it was early morning and i was about to go to work - what's wrong what's wrong she asked? I sold two clips i repeated many times in pure excitement and i showed her the notification mail. We both laughed out loud!

Selling clips on Pond5 has been very motivational indeed, i get a buzz from it, three sales this month. Millions of clips and they find my clip, simply amazing. I am with no other stock agencies, just Pond5, this agency appealed to me straight away, the website, the forum and the 50/50 split, no hassle. Shoot, upload, sell!!

So many people on the forum with a huge amount of experience, tips, ideas, that too is very motivational. Yes, i'm definitely going to stick around and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for this thread, all the best,

JD

AurelPIX, haven't caught you :) Do you mean Optimized Marketplace Pricing in the account preferences? I have that box unchecked, so I suppose Pond5 can't change my prices then.

Thank you Odesigns for your comment, then i will check mine to manual price ;)

BrainwaveMedia: thanks too, and so funny memorial moment :-D
I agree with you, Pond5 is really what i was looking for as platform too.
I don't know if HD video clips are still enough today (i have only photos yet), but no 4K camera. I saw that you propose 4K video clips. I would like so much too... :-)

Yes Zoritmex, that's it :)
