I have been submitting lots of 2K and 4K in both video and film formats for about 6 months now. I was wondering if there was an interest for such - the answer seems to be yes! - hence - my first 4K sale! Yupee:

Post your 4K clips here. And Maybe we should also have a 2K forum as well.

2K and 4K has to do with resolutions beyond HD - There are a variety of 4K and 2K resolutions depending on the format needed - the frame rate needed etc. Some formats in in what could be close to 4:3 and others in 16:9 - For more info visit: http://stock.vadervideo.com/content/technology-specifications-digital-cinema-formats

Congratulations on your sale! I also thought your graph of the various formats very useful. Could you explain to me what the functional uses are for 2K or 4K files? Maybe that would help me understand this file type better...

Congratulations! Was this a sequence of photos taken with your T2i? This most have required a super/mega computer with plenty of ram.

@luxor - yes - these were done with the T2i. Reg computer - 64 bit 6GB ram win7 using AE - really not bad at all.

@tbmpvideo - reg what they are used for. I would recommend googling and doing a little looking on the net as there is not short or simple answer to this. The "battle" for 2k and 4k resolutions has been going on for quite a while and simply has been amplified when RED announced its very first camera. In simple terms - if you have a very large moving image or motion picture - you can now for one thing, put it up on super large screens. :) But there is lot more to it. If you have gigantic resolution - you can also do so much more with it in post. As most common productions are just now coming into HD - think about the camera (added) movements you can do from panning, to zooming if you have the resolution available.

@all of you - thanks for the feedback and I am glad some of you can make use of the information I provided.

Vadervideo, thanks for your answer. I'll do some googling. I have often thought about the pan and scan glory of larger files. May you sell many many more!
