Damn, I was hoping it wouldn't look so good. :-)
This and the $1000 less price tag makes the problem of choosing the Canon or this one that much harder.
Of course I'm not sure if the 24p would hurt sales. I know some people only shoot 24p but....

Actually, for me this camera would be a secondary camera for the enhanced DOF or stealth so the 24p wouldn't be that big of a deal.
I would still use my FX1 for most other things.

AHHHH!! SUPER VIDEO! Does the Canon shoot 30p at 1080? This one only does 24p? Hmm.... might or might not break the deal. Seems compression techniques are getting better. HOLD OUT FOR ANOTHER YEAR!

Yes, the canon does 30p at 1080. This camera will do 30p at 720 but I don't want to shoot anything at that resolution.

The real nice thing about this camera is the lenses. They are small and lightweight - also no mirror that can wear out over time. Check out this vid from the PMA show..

ahh I knew this camera would look good, it should be equal to the Red One camera (only compressed) according to the tech specs. FYI you can force the footage to be 30p or 29.97p but it will will slightly fast motion, which won't matter so long as you aren't doing people shots. Because it becomes obvious when people are moving in fast motion, but its not so obvious on nature shots etc.
Also the mirror is just for looking through the viewfinder on the 5d. I thought about surgically removing the mirror from my 5d because it would allow me to use more old m42 lenses and I always use the live view anyway. Even for stills.

I think they were saying somewhere around $1500.00 incl a lens. But I could be wrong.

it still has a sensor size of 16mm film, 5d has 35mm size. Which means canon has more DOF, a greater dynamic range, and greater pixel clarity. Its not equal, its like saying 16mm film = 35mm film, robert rodriguez's first movie was shot on 16mm film and upresed to 35mm film and it looked OK.
The panasonic camera is great, and it looks incredible....However I could still return the 5d to the store, but I won't,,,,, but thats me. I would definately recommend this camera to new videographers, it still kicks the ass of all traditional video cameras.
24p is for indie film people.... 25p is for euro TV
