Green-crowned Brilliant hummingbird
Green-crowned Brilliant (Heliodoxa jacula) male head and gorget "stickpin" in this ECU of the bird on a feeder. Unlike smaller hummingbirds, this one almost always perches while it feeds, whether on feeders or flowers. Its range is limited to Costa Rica, Panama and western Ecuador. Location: Monte Verde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica
