Please recommend a barebone video editing software

Thanks again.

I downloaded Davinci Resolve. The file is very big, my computer does not have enough space to handle it.

I don't mind paying. Just I don't want to pay subscription. I need a smaller software. Any other ideas?

Sorry, when I needed a video editor I looked at all the options, from basic to Resolve and decided all of them had a learning curve, why not learn the best? And a free version as well! I don't have a storage problem, storage is cheap these days. You should first concentrate on upping your storage. But that's advice coming from a guy who builds his own computers, which was also a learning curve

Sorry, I just need a simple software to do the basics, including trimming, color grading and conversion to mov before I decide which computer to buy.

With Black Friday coming soon, I don't want to rush to buy a new computer.

In one account or another you've got quite a few clips on P5. What software have you been using so far?

I think Davinci is about 16gb in size. It's Pro and best you can get for free.

Cyberlink powerdirector 365 (i think is around 4gb but requires 7gb disk space). PowerDirector Essential is a free stripped-down editor.I don't recommend it. As far as i recall 365 is a subscription and You can only use it as long as you keep up your subscription

You got Free Capcut (around 10 GB) or Free VN Editor (5GB) which can be interesting choices for quick solutions.
Capcut has an free online version too. I've never tried it but maybe it can solve the lack of space issue.

The alternative presented by Mizamook is good too. Maybe considering buying at least a cheap 1 or 2 TB in HDD to lighten the computer could be an alternative too. They aren't that bad. i still use them every single day.

Jumpcut, I was considering PowerDirector 2024 video editor which offers a perpetual license. I have emailed to inquire the system requirements and how many computer(s) that I, as a single user, can install. If they allow two computers for one user, I will go for it. Otherwise, I will wait until I get the new computer.

Another alternative is to buy another copy of the very old software which has not been updated since 2015. But from what I recall, I had to install some third-party software to make it work properly. I'd rather not to install additional software which may bring in virus. It happened before. Even though I have good virus protection for my computer, the previous virus was hidden. Norton can detect it, but it was not able to remove it. I had to remove it manually.

I was able to download and reinstall my old software because I bought a perpetual license before. Everything is good now.

Again, thank you all.

Davinci Free is perpetual. And free. What's not to like?

Singletrack, as I said, my computer does not have enough space to run Davinci. I tried. Thanks for suggesting it.

Is it the size of the upload or the amount of your RAM not letting you use Davinci? I'm covered on both but I also have 48 GB of RAM to allow other processing software I use to actually run
