I'd be very curious to hear what your guy says Vader!
Just got off the phone (again) with Adobe. Didn't get a case number last time, so had to prove it all over again. Same: They replicated the problem, could not figure it out, acknowledged it is a problem, said
For now, I would advise you please to use different codec"
Which brings me to the reality: This is for stock video. Not Youtube. What codec shall we use?
Until further info....

Update: Just received call from Adobe. They have recognized this as a bug (Bug #3810756) and submitted it to be fixed by the next release. I'm very happy with them for taking it seriously.
Just in time to be considering switching to ProRes....which I will try but only if it doesn't change my gamma upon render....

Thanks for your continued diligence, Mizamook. Happy to hear they finally acknowledge the problem, and will be fixing it.

I also got an answer for Adam (SNL) - they film pretty much everything with an ARRI in raw. He then sends an xml and the footage to an subcontracted coloring lab, they in turn send back Prores 422 finished files, which he then renders as a final in prores 422 as well. Hence, in the prores codecs they do not see this issue. But as you have already found out, there is a bug so this is just fun information to have regarding SNL's workflow. :)

Thanks for diving into this Gene. Let's hope for Adobe to come up with a solution.

I noticed this issue since i moved from vegas to adobe suite...it's not a big gamma shift but it's there and it makes me go back to vegas to render out pjpeg....

Resurrecting this thread from the dead. Due in large part to this problem, I decided last year during my 30-day AE CC trial not to continue with it, and went back to AE3. Well, today I decided, time to see if they've fixed the issue. It's sure been long enough. So downloaded the new AE CC, and rendered a PJPEG. VERY disappointed. Despite their promise, the bug remains, over one year later.
Not happy with Adobe.

It's funny, I just saw a similar issue with PPCC and was wondering about it. I really dislike Adobe. There is always something annoying about it. I'm going to try a trial download from Apple.

Sad to hear this is still an issue. I've been out of it for a while, but still harnessed to the yoke of Adobe .. needing cloning, stabilization, etc. in one package ... what a PITA.
