Stockholm Skavsta Airport footage

I know others have made interesting films about their local airports. Here is a short film I made about the Stockholm Skavsta Airport in Sweden. The Airport is just five minutes away from my home:

Great work! Loving the spooky mysterious fog and winter shots. Gonna have to watch it again later because, ironically, I'm in an airport where the internet is so slow it barely loads anything to read, much less watch....

Congrats, and thanks for sharing.

Amazing Airport footage - what focal length are you using - it seems like you´re standing just where the runway ends/begins.
(And I like to see Scandinavia represented!)

Thanks to both of you!
For those close-ups I used a 400 mm lens with a 2X converter on a 1,6x crop camera (Canon 7D). When planes are landing I am about 600-800 metres away from where they touch ground, and when they are starting head on I am about 1000-1200 meter from where they take off.
And for the Winter shots, LOTS of warm cloths! :-)

Even though we almost feel the heat from the engines......

Indeed - if you had a slight jitter at that focal length, just chalk it up to jet wash. You'd be really bored here in Juneau .... NO planes are flying, or landing, and the view out the concourse window is of a shifting fog bank over the runway. Might be here awhile yet.

So which 2x extender are you using? I've got a 1.4x Kenko, which I like....can't see any problems. Thinking of getting a 2x, or stacking another 1.4....

I use the Canon 2x III. You can't stack that with other Canon extenders (unless putting an extension tube between them). But you can stack them with a Kenko. I have an old 1.4x Kenko as well. But I Think the image gets a bit too soft when stacking the Canon and the Kenko together.

Stefan, great footage!
Looks like there are some great spotting places around Skavsta airport. Very cool that the runway have a real bump in the middle so planes disappear when they land on opposite side, that was amazing to watch!
Your night shots was fantastic too

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, PerJohan!

Oh, did I mention that the clips in the film are available through P5?! :-)
