DSLR frustration

Remaping didn't work, i've tried it!
Frustrating to hear / read that dealing with dead pixels is common problem. I though till now i have been only unlucky with this experience. :(

Yeah, you don't typically notice them with normal photography but as soon as you are doing long exposure night photography they stand out like a sore thumb. It was always a huge pain to get rid of for time lapses until just lately when I noticed that lightroom was taking care of it for me.

Dust should not be there because they should produce it in a dust-free environment, real dust-free. It is good to return it to them to show Canon their own fault.

Hmm, with my 550D i had no problems with dead pixels by long exposures, .... and i've made also some shots up to 3min exposure. But maybe it appears only with higher ISO. By 550D ISO 1600 looks very noisy, so i usually shot only with max. ISO 400, that's the reason why i will have full-frame now.

Pat, you're right, i also think they must produce in dust-free environment, but maybe with the years the quality standart goes down more and more.

....... strange ..... all those companies from japan claim to be ISO 9001 manufacturing standard and Six Sigma compliance.

I've never had dead pixels, or ones that I can see... I couldn't imagine having a red dot on my video and considering that 'acceptable'.

I hope you have a 4K monitor or TV so you can judge your own video. I have only FHD monitor, so I really don't know if my camera has any issue of dead pixel. I can check with picture, sure. I never bother, until the time that curator reject my footage for this reason. Is the curator has such a sharp eyes?? LOL

Pat, with DSLRs you can check it also on your camera display by magnifier function.
Of course better is to look on any PC monitor in 1:1 resolution.

Those who are shooting 4K video and are processing it on a HD monitor ... shame shame shame. The difference is night and day. Photos are easy to fix a dust bunny or dead pixel. Video it's not easy. Heck with Photos here at P5 not sure if it's worth it. Just got 50% rejection on photos. Canon 5D MK III. They want over saturated, over sharpened. I just can't do that.

Yup dust bunnies are very frustrating. A couple years ago I dropped of my 5D MK II and II to the Canon cleaning people at NAB. There were more dust on the sensor after they finished than before. Removing dust is a hit or miss and nearly impossible if shooting f22.

I just ordered the new 1Dx MK II. Bet it has dust at f22 also.
