Introducing the 5D Mark III

I know that Jake, Scott and several others plan to check it out at NAB, so I'm sure we'll get a full report then.

Most people I know personally are waiting for video reviews from Bloom, La Foret, Planet5D, etc... before they order. Too many unanswered questions at the moment.

i hope someone will do comparison with same settings, same light, side by side Mark II and Mark III so we can see how much is the difference in low light, moire and details.
Then we can decide to buy or not to buy :)

People of Pond5 - let's unite!

Once we have an agreement that the mark III is worth buying, let's unite as a buyers group. We can approach Canon or B&H or Adorama or whoever as a group. We will tell them that we intend to buy 20-50 items or so and we request a group discount, similar to the discount granted to NYT, CNN, US Army etc. I have no problem sending down payment to a "senior" member, such as Jake or Don or Dave or Zygis.

What do you say?

Can I just scratch another I on my MII?

Luxor, those are some attractive reasons.

It will be a tough one to be the first buyer on. I would like to check one out first, really look at the footage as well as hear what people say the pros cons are.

I don't mean to pull a "kanye west" here...

OK I support the DSLR movement, and all that.
I like the 5d III more than the C300, but not enough to upgrade.
If my 5d broke I'd get the III version.

but the statement:
"This codec is well above the broadcast standard of 50mbps"
-is not true... the minimum for broadcasting on TV in the US is more like 6mbps... sorry :P
I would like to know where the 50 came from.
