Yet another pricing question

singletrack500m572 10 Jan 2022 12:35
It's 2022 so maybe things are different now. I've been putting in a price for my 4K videos and am letting Pond5 set the 1080 price at half that. Can I manually set the 1080 prices so they are higher than 1/2 the 4K price?

And if I can, and if you have, what's the downside of that? I'm in the US of A.

downside is that people will pay a premium price for good content, so effectively you will be giving your work away, if you think a cheap price means more sales think again it never works like that

Well, I didn't start this thread asking should I go cheap on my prices, I never said that and I don't believe that, where did you get that?

I'll ask again: who here manually sets their 1080 prices higher instead of P5 setting them at 1/2 their 4k pricing (assuming that a contributor has uploaded a 4K version of their clips and the 1080 version is made by P5):

Example: I upload a 4K clip, price it at $389, P5 prices the 1080 version at $195. I'm asking do most people manually price the 1080 version at (maybe) $250 instead. Like that

Does anyone have a problem with ‘Account-Preferences’ downconverted file price option…? I’m trying for days, but without any success to make it work… it can be changed(% for converted files, new and already available older files), but without any effects on HD prices…

@singletrack500m572

Go to your online files, from the drop down menu.. once there select all, then at the bottom of the page there is the submit drop down, select set downconverted HD price, set it and when the popup window opens wait until it populates with text then close it and submit, if already submitted then you take no further action. Also you can affect large numbers of files by changing your item displayed, I usually use 400.

Madvideos, before I try that: does the process you've outlined use a percentage of the HD price for the downconverted (1080) version? Like, instead of the default 50% I can choose 75% or whatever?

And, "select all", is that me going through my entire set of clips and manually selecting each one or is that an automatic process by P5 to select all of my clips?

And, like trucic asked, how to avoid this backfiring and messing up my current HD pricing?

I'm not batch processing anything at the moment. I'm just going clip to clip and pricing differently for each one, sometimes the same price for multiple clips but using the "downconverted HD price" option in the drop down menu won't work for me.

It will be easiest for me to just "manually" set the HD and future downconverted 1080 prices at the same time as I'm keywording etc. I tried entering "75%" after selecting the "downconvert HD price" option in the drop down menu but it didn't happen.

Of course, user error is always a possibility in anything I do so if I'm going about this wrong and, indeed, a guy could enter "75%" and that would downconvert using that percentage on all selected clips (that I manually select), please let me know how to go about that.

It seems that option to set price percentage of downonverted file is not working at the moment or blocked…?!

I'm new here and don't know if it ever was an option. I'll check but is there a way to do it when I'm pricing the 4k version, you know, set it to 75% (or whatever) instead of doing the math then inputting it manually
