Dataset earnings

AI has killed all sales for POND5... they gave huge amount of date to AI and paid everyone pennies. Now everyone generates anything they need using AI. They can make videos, music, sound FX, pictures, and much more. Pond5 will eventually be something of the past. Time to learn AI because since AI exploded the sales on POND5 went to 0.

I just got these 'dataset earnings'. Got $20 last year, but didn't think much of it. This year I got A LOT so I looked into it, but I'm confused and a bit troubled. It is scary to think they could be using my content to train AI...
At least they are paying for it, but I'd like to have some sort of consent thing? I think most of us artists on these sites are against the creative use of AI so it makes me a little sick to my stomach.

Hey JASMusicUK. Be pleased about it. I received over $7,500.00 Canadian. As I mentioned in another thread about AI, in the end AI won't be as bad for us as some think. Once everything settles in AI will have it's corner in the market and we'll have ours but I believe we won't be become obsolete. One door closes another will open. Once AI settles in don't be surprised to see our sales increase again. Of course I'm talking from a music producer standpoint. Visuals, I don't know ? Congrats on your earnings :) Nice to get, hey !

Sounds like music got a hell of a lot more than footage.

@ElementalSW You can opt in or out of dataset services in your account settings.
Like everything in life, it's a mixed bag. 2 years ago I received around $150, last year just a few cents, and yesterday almost $2k, but normal sales are veeeeery low.
Not a big fan of AI as replacement, because at the end of the day that is what it is made for. Let's not forget though, that many years before generative AI was even a thing, the biggest enemies have always been humans give away their 'art' for free. In the past few months, if you search for anything on any engine, without even specifying FREE, you get loads and loads of results of free sounds, free music, free language courses and conversation services, free graphics, stock video...
Showcasing a couple of things, giving away a few samples, maybe at a lower resolution is one thing, it can get your foot in some door, let customers/fans get an idea, a taste of your stuff, giving it all away for free all the time is a surefire way to kill any market. Why should I pay if I can get it for free?
And royalty-free libraries of any kind, including Pond5 were also seen as an enemy compared to the good old days of being actually paid decent royalties.
The very nature of digital makes it hard to REALLY sell stuff because digital implies perfect copies, easily reproducible, no scarcity and no real control. A good thing on one hand, a terrible one on the other. We gladly fed on a thing what could, probably is, and surely will kill us ;)

I forgot the day I gave these disgusting people the opportunity to train their "AI" on my music, probably because I never gave them permission. This is so wrong and I will take action, I don't care if you guys are happy beacuse you finally made a sale, the average amount of money received is a joke. I'm here to sell my music, not to sell my knowledge and my style for a few dollars that basically will be the last. I will never upload new music on this platform of thief, I CHOOSE THE PRICES, again, this is disgusting and I'm gonna take action, I don't give a flying fuck about a few dollars.

My question is Can we continue to get payouts from dataset earnings? Weekly monthly yearly? Has anyone got more than one payout a year? I just got one dataset payout for 120$ I have approx 1300 video clips in current contributor account. I am still getting a handful of monthly sales also.

THProductions. This is my 3rd payout. The 1st one was sizable, the 2nd one was about 1/2 of the amount. I'm also still getting monthly sales, not like before but still coming in. How often we'll get these ? I'm guessing how often you upload new material will dictate that, who knows for sure though ? Once again, this is from a music producers standpoint.
