Gary Rubio was born in Bogotá, Colombia. There he won a drawing competition when he was a kid. The prize was music lessons at the district’s art school (and a pen light). This was his first exposure to music. After that he moved to various countries in South America where he experienced many cultures. Eventually he got involved in choirs and bands, which led him to pursue studies in music.
