Vertical Format thumb selection

RekindlePhoto 19 Oct 2015 22:53
When uploading vertical format footage the choices for a default thumb are distorted because they are in landscape instead of portrait format. The system should be smart enough to give accurate thumb choices as well as automatically input sound and ration.

So currently it's impossible to select a different thumb as default.

My vertical 9:16 shots were all rejected, the curator wrote they don't accept vertical format!

They have always accepted vertical, is this a change with no notice?

There is a new footage agency getting started that only does vertical, they will be very happy if P5 rejects these. Heck even SS is looking at taking them. Rejecting a valid format especially with smart phone and tablet orientation makes little economic and business sense.

What do you think Jonathan?

P5 is still accepting vertical format, here is one that was shot on 27 Sept 2015 and already online for sales here (not one of mine). There are a lot more old and new vertical format clips here on P5 so must be a new curator??

The clip isn't in vertical ratio 9:16, that's not what i mean.
Makes no real sense to upload vertical clips in horizontal ratio.

The best way to do it would probably be to submit sideways in 16:9... that's what I've always done. I wouldn't make it 1080x1920.

If vertical video picks up they should have a check box that when you choose it auto rotates your clips to the proper display.

I can tell you we don't currently have a way to display vertical videos vertically, so I think dapoopta is on the right track. I'll check with the curators and let you guys know.

Hummmm, the previews after uploading and during data entry show the clips vertical the way they should be. If the first processing can show them standing up then what is the problem keeping them that way?

So does P5 rotate them after data entry and during curation? If we don't lay them down on their side will new curators reject them? Are we supposed to lay them down? That makes no sense.

I guess this is an upgrade that deserves looking into, something that does make a difference instead of fluff? Maybe if verticals are displayed vertical the buyers will be a lot more inclined to buy them. There is a new upstart agency that only accepts verticals and they must be standing up for them to accept. If a no money startup can do I'm sure P5 has much better programmers that can fix this simply and very quickly ;)

I'm saying export your clips as 1920x1080 and then when you upload them you check a vertical footage box.

Not sure how people are bringing these into their editing software, but I guess if they bring them in a 1080x1920 timeline they would be rotating them from the standard horizontal.

All my vertical stuff I ever uploaded was 1920x1080 on its side

I just wonder why the previews after uploading and in the data input has them standing up. It's only after submission for review that they get laid down?
