Why isn’t everybody uploading H.264 codec?

Based on what I've seen in stills sales in the stock business over the past couple decades, as long as the technical quality is adequate, content will win every time when it comes to picking one image over another.

In any way i don't understand this discussion!
I remember when starting here 2010 only H.264 codec in .mov was allowed by P5!"

I've been here since the beginning. QT MJPEG and PJPEG was what was allowed and h.264 was not used in any form. With over 12,000 clips I only have a couple in h.264 as a test a long time ago. Didn't like the outcome so stayed with PJPEG. Maybe you are talking of h264 within QT versus .avi or .mp4 and not just within .mov.

What software are you using? If Adobe, you need to install Quicktime then QT PJPEG will be an option. PJPEG is the standard and most used codex still. Other versions such as Prores is fast becoming more used and h.264 is used in many cameras as native capture.

Rekindle - I'm really sure, when starting 2010 and shooting .mov with my Canon EOS they didn't accept the original ,mov and i had to buy QuickTime (or use another free software) to convert .mov with H.264. The original .mov from Canon EOS were rejected. I wasn't dreaming!
I use Magix Pro(fessional) X6 in between, 64bit software, not the cheap versions and when i try to convert to .mov i get the info that .mov isn't compatible because it's only available as 32bit modul.

I got the info that P5 accept Mpeg4 on the forum. I uploaded always mov .264 or Motion Jpeg before.

@Beckhusen you are wrong about P5 only excepting H264. Pond5 did prefer that footage be uploaded in its native format but in no way did they reject clips because they were not uploaded in H264.

I'm not going to claim that I have been here from the beginning as some one here has stated many times but I did join in August of 2006 and I believe P5 went online in June of that year.

I think you can upload MOV .264 at the beginning. MOV is always a welcome, Mpeg4 come much later.

Jason - I was not dreaming! Original Conon .mov was rejected because they didn't accept the codec and i had to re-render original .mov in QuickTime with H264 codec. What shall i say else? Unfortunately it's not possible to prove/show it today because i didn't save all messages from this time, nor what i read at the specifications on this site! When i started here i got the clear info that .mov have to be rendered with the QuickTime 264 codec!
Don't know what is or was going up with P5 to seller communication :(
This double processing with .mov stressed me for years and stole my time. Only because my (new) software don't export to move and i had again to look in the P5 video spcifications i got the info that mts, mp4 and others are accepted in between.
I wrote P5 that it will be nice for the future if they could inform sellers about important major changes by mass mail or newsletter, but in this way P5 is absolute not user or seller friendly! :(
The last time when i checked again the spezifications pages all links were broken for sellers since a while, ... and they havn't note it without my info to them.

The specification page is not broken and here's the link.

I wrote "were broken" and "havn't note it without my info", .... i didn't wrote "is broken"!!!
First read correct, then write! ;)
Or do you need the conversation letter with P5 to believe me?
