New JVC Cam for $5K shoots 4K Footage

just saw a tweet about this and came over to share it, looks very interesting doesn't it.

Four 1/4 inch chips fused together to produce four 35mbs signals that make-up the 4k image. This camera will need a lot of illumination; a daylight camera.

The camera has AVCHD written on its side. 35mbps AVCHD??? per channel.

The only trouble is that it will end up as $10K with the new computer you will need to edit the footage!

I don't think that to be true. My current system can handle that size no problem. It just takes a little more time for processing. But over time as more powerful systems come to life, one can always upgrade then. :)

4k from 1/2(7.65/4.3 mm) inch sensor? That's a joke!

I have to agree with ionescu. Also, I don't know anyone with a display that can play it. I would have to think that more displays at this resolution would need to sell to make purchasing this camera worth it.
