Hihi guys, I'm pretty new to the world of stock and wanted to know if you guys putting up the ae comps compose your own music or do you just work something out with the composer? and if so where could I go to find me a team mate?

Welcome to p5--you can post a notice in the Classifieds here, also join sites like Creative Cow and look around there. Try this search in google "original music for graphics needed" The problem you will have is affording to pay them upfront for music that you want to include on a comp that you will then sell speculatively. Its a cash flow issue. Im not a composer of music. Also, there are alot of canned templated audio that can be created and used. Heres one: http://www.smartsound.com/

also http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/acidsoftware

I wish you the best

Im also new in producing AE templates and I have the same problem with sound. If I decide to buy Smartsound Im allowed to use these compositions in my templates? I checked their homepage but theres nothing about using it for stock.

This is from video and after effects upload spec regarding audio:

VIDEO: If you are uploading an animation do not add sound effects or music to the file, it will be rejected.

AE: All creative content included in your upload must be FULLY OWNED by you. That means that any audio, still image, video or other elements contained in your upload must be your creation. You may not include any stock elements that you licensed from Pond5 or elsewhere.

thanks Jason, so yikes! this means even if I found a sound designer and worked something out with them to team up for a couple projects I wouldn't be able to upload it here? so you have to be motion graphics and a sound designer at the same time? don't they realize it takes a lot of effort just to master 1 of these crafts? O.o

It's a pitty - Smartsound would be soo cool to use.
Seems like I really have to use my old synthesizer from the garage to produce some effects and loops for my templates. But then we just can't offer templates for as low as 50 bucks. Would be more like 200-500 bucks per template.

My personal feelings is that it is a waste of time and afford to include audio in CG or video clips as most producers aren't going to use it.

good point jason, but I'm talking more about the after effects project files where adding sound would actually help it sell better.

It's the same for all clips whether it's video, cg, ae or ae projects.
