Software to uncompress footage?

I'm as green as spring grass. I ordered a T2i today and, if I understand correctly, I will need software to uncompress the files before they are high enough quality for P5.
Can someone tell me what software I'll need in order to do this?

It would help to know which computer, OS and editing software you have now?

The easiest way is through a free software called MPEG Streamclip, best output settings are PhotoJpeg anywhere between 75-85% Quality

Having said that P5 does accept clips straight from the camera and the default clips are of a High enough Quality

I'll second MPEG streamclip, though I thought it had to be 90-95%?
And Clip-Wrap is a very useful free/$50 ap. depending on your workflow.

Generally, in my experience, PhotoJpeg files above 75% have virtually no increase in visual quality, however there is a considerable increase in file size. Some agencies even specify not to go above 75-80% for precisely this reason

Well, If I don't have to edit it that would be the best! I'll try uploading it straight from the camera and if it denied I will go into all the editing. Thank you!

Uploading straight from the camera is not such a good idea. You'll be uploading the wild sound from the camera which is and uploading a format which is less attractive to potential buyers. Strip the sound from the shot (unless it is essential and enhances the footage), trim the clip to somewhere around 10 - 15 seconds and use PhotoJPEG. You'll get better results.

In order to use MPEGStreamclip, which is a very good and useful tool, you need to install QuicktTime. I rather recommend QuickTime Alternative version 1.8.1 but not newer:

Important: do not simultaneousely install Apple QT and QT Alt.

I'm going to try using MPEG_Streamclip and compress it to Apple Motion JPEGB. I've uploaded a few straight from camera and they don't look good to me. Almost grainy. Definitely not the quality I paid for in my camera!

Which option should I choose for Frame Scaling? It seems to default to a different one every time. Usually 1920x1080 (unscaled) but then sometimes 720x480(DV-NTSC). I would think it should be one with HD such at 1280x720(HDTV 720p) or 1920x1080(HDTV 1080i). But then it might be too big of a file?
