LUMIX GH5

Already listed at BHPHOTO but I think they said it will available sometime in 2017.
"Lumix GH5 enables 4K 60p/50p and 4:2:2 10-bit 4K video recording"

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1283257-REG/panasonic_dmc_gh5_mirrorless_micro_four.html

Lumix GH4 will take a price plunge just as the GH3 and GH2.

If it's like the last time we'll probably have to wait a couple more months before there's enough units available. I wouldn't be surprised if most people will only be able to buy one in the second half of 2017. Definitely a great camera judging by the specs though.

My only concern is low light functionality, compared to A7S II.

This will be an awesome camera. I was waiting to choose between the 5d iv and the GH5. Its definitely a no brainer between the two. Its been a long time since I have been excited for a camera.

GHs will always suffer on low light. For exterior shots under the tropical sun, that is not an issue.

"One stop better" as per Panasonic announcement doesnt really inspire confidence that this camera will be usable above iso1600 but a metabones can transform it into a very decent low light S35 camera.
Plus a 10bit 4:2:2 video can be very easily pushed a bit brighter and/or denoised so in a sense it can be a low light camera.

Not like an a7s but it's not like its' high isos are always usable.S-log "steals" 1-2 stops and there's still the s-log high iso bug that sony awknowledges, but will never fix.How else with they sell newer cameras if they dont (im afraid deliberately) cripple their models in key features?Thats why screw them.Btw screw canon too.Panasonic hasnt exhibited such behaviour (yet) .

It will be another 6 months or so until it's official announcement and im anxious to hear about it's slow motion capabilities also.
Someone said that there will be ibis,if true it's a no brainer especially with select 4/3 lenses as well as 3rd party ones.

I was gonna ask earlier about comparison between GH4 and the Sony A7(S,R) ll cams .. Sony's seem to have an unnatural rolloff that is hard to tame in highlights, and that can affect my future decision, having seen some really really nice stuff from both online, but not seen real footage from either in the situations I shoot in ... first I heard of the Sony high iso bug ... just not sure how to think about this .. no perfect camera anywhere, and newer stuff often chasing a tech wet dream, really ... as it's the content, not the quality ... you can have crap quality and sell great content ... so it's just a matter deciding how much one really needs to spend to get the footage one wants .... but I will say 60fps 4K is a nice thing, but what's the tradeoff? With my FS700 I can do that, 60P DCI 4K RAW .... but it's big, and takes a lot in post ... sure wish 60P was a reality with a lot of compressed cams, but jeez, compression really suck, you know? But then who cares, right? People like cell phone footage, too ..

But nothing gets my goat like electronic looking highlights. So if the GH4 is known for being more smooth/natural in that area than Sony, maybe not being able to get handheld real time aurora shots would be OK ...

Perhaps you might get handheld aurora if the GH5 gets IBIS, Olympus claim 6.5 stops from their IBIS, they say that is the maximum they can achieve because of the earths rotation affects the gyros. Noise isn't great with GH4 but if it's critical shoot 4K at 1600 max and downsize to HD for delivery which downsizes the digital noise and probably gets the footage found on P5s search system ; )

They say it has better low light performance ...... I would prefer if they had a variant with a 12 megapixel M4/3 sensor.

"18MP Micro Four Thirds sensor which, combined with upgraded digital signal processing and heat dissipation, should result in improved image quality and low-light performance"

I'm very excited about the 4K 60p ability. I love my GH4, and and am confident the GH5 will not disappoint. I really want to get back to Canon as well. I have been a tiny bit disappointed by the low-light performance of the GH4, thus my shift back to Canon full-frame for some types of shooting. I have a 5D MkII, and have been wanting to "upgrade" to the 5D Mk IV. Which company gets my money first? In the end they both will.
