GoPro Hero3 Exposure Lock Petition!!!

Mizamook 25 Jan 2013 06:55
Petition to show GoPro that we, as users, REALLY would like the ability to control exposure. Petition started by Pavel Masek.

Step up and be heard! Spread this around to other forums you are active on!

Please, in your notes, make it clear that we would like a firmware update...not have to buy yet another camera!

For YouTube and normal family use they are great, for stock to eliminate flicker it's needed.

I was very excited about my Hero 2, but after a great stock footage tour through my country last summer, I stopped using it for time lapse sequences. Several clips ruined by the ridiculous flicker!
Here is an example:

I purchased 3 Go Pro Hero 2 cameras and 99% of the footage I shoot is useless. I purchased every accessory, and often 2x every accessory.

On water, I get droplets on the lens so the shots are ruined. same in the snow, it can't shoot in low light. it can't shoot well under water because of the focal length. everything is fish eye, there is no setting without. it gets dust inside the camera when shooting in the desert, even with the complete enclosure set. on my motorcycle I get heavy rolling shutter.

I did get some good video from it by mounting it to my car, but when I do it again, I will do it with a regular camera and not a gopro.

I do get great gopro video when the camera is aimed back at the operator, but that is it

I tried mounting it to an RC helicopter but the helicopter became damaged due to too many accidents.

I think the powershot S100 is better than a gopro, except the rolling shutter is worse on the powershot S100, for example when mounting to a motorcycle. the powershot S100 is a great camera if you want to film in restricted areas and it is easy to conceal, although the RAW mode does not operate as advertised.

dapoopta, on what forum are people getting angry with whom?

Clearly a Gopro bug. Report immediately. Gopro give new Gopro3 for free if you reported a new bug.

Too funny.

well.... I'm sure you haven't purchased the dive housing
Water on the lens while on water or in the snow...it's not the camera but the person who is operating it.
Dust inside the camera when using the housing is impossible..

I love it (Hero3) underwater so far...not diving, but on a stick. Use RainX for droplets.....if it's stationary, they will still be there sometimes, but no glass will shed all water all the time without movement or wind.

The exposure lock thing is the biggest on most important drawback. All cameras have faults....especially in this price range, but most basic cameras have some exposure control, and it should not be hard to implement.

Stay on target ...
