P5 ... WE NEED an answer on File and title name!!!!

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Let me clarify.

If you submit a video that has the title "Boat Sailing Down Hudson River UHD" or "World Trade Center Construction 4K" it will not be sent back to you or rejected and it does not harm search results.

If you submit a video which is part of a series of different angles etc..such as "World Trade Center Construction 1" and "World Trade Center Construction 2" it will be accepted and will not harm search results.

If you submit a video that has as a title “MVI_1984” it will be sent back for a more appropriate titles. Videos with one or two word titles like “Water” or “Running Water” will also be returned. Be more specific like “Running Water on Lake Erie Coastline” for example. These file name only titles do limit the chances of someone finding your clips from outside the site via a search engine.

It is much better to have impact words in the title and in your keywords. Videos with strong keywords and weak titles are ok but videos with strong keywords and strong titles are much better, and preferred.

There really is no need to submit a video with the title “Boat Sailing Down Hudson River MVI_1984” It looks sloppy and we will be returning them so that you can fill in a proper title. For those of you who organize your items by file name you can now do a search via the “My Uploads’ page and search by original file name. This does not harm search results but it does not look pretty as we are trying to present media as elegantly as possible on the site.

Let me know if there are any additional questions.

Yes, this response offers a new question!
A whole while before i got several airshow clips rejected only because the title included the number of appearing jets or planes. That were indeed strong titles including the visible action and the full name of the jets and i had only one number included to decide for example clips including 3 jets or 5 jets.
As you explain now these clips should not have been rejected, but accepted!

Thanks for the response, that clarifies my understanding of this a lot.

But, as with Beckhusen, the whole reason I ever inquired or had any forum post questions about this subject was because my titles, such as the example given: "World Trade Center Construction 1" and "World Trade Center Construction 2" were being sent back by some curators for renaming. My original forum posts and contact with P5 on this subject asked if that was a mistake, and although this was a really long way to an answer, it seems to confirm that it was indeed a misunderstanding being made by a curator or two for a short period of time to NOT accept such titles. I hope this clarification has been made to everyone on that end too!

This also confirms that the addition of a 1, 2 or 3 at the end of a clip title will NOT affect search placement negatively, which was the original reason given as to why we were not supposed to add those numbers in the first place. Ultimately, this was my primary concern.

@beckhusen I think you are confusing rejecting and sending back clips. If you had numbers in your clips they were, most likely, 'sent back' to you so that you could remove the numbers. Rejecting a clip would mean that you could not upload that clip again.
having said that, curators have been reminded not to send back clips for including basic numbers.

Please share this information with the curators. Once again my videos are being sent back to me for further edits because the "title" is not "descriptive" enough. It's a series of videos of garden snails, they are titled "Garden Snails 1, Garden Snails 2, etc." They're just garden snails being garden snails. There's nothing else to it. I believe the intention of the curator is to help, but further delaying curation because of this continued, prolonged misunderstanding is certainly not helping my sales one bit.

If the "description" field is not enough for the search engine that we need to essentially include all the descriptive text in the title, why do we even have a title field to begin with? Or a description? If a title needs to be a description, call it something other than a title. I can't believe we're still having this discussion. Such a poor way to spend my time.

Looking back through some of my previously accepted photos from this same shoot, and I noticed the curator once again CHANGED my titles and removed words and numbers from them, leaving them all called "Snails". Video curator sends them back saying they need more words, photo curator takes it upon themselves to remove words and numbers without explanation. Seriously, when can we all just get on the same page with this?
Atomazul 19 Oct 2014 17:44
Wow, further checking and so many of my images had their titles changed by the curators. Now I have to go through and fix all these. Would really like to be shooting and editing right now instead of doing this.

May be a verb is needed.
Atomazul 19 Oct 2014 18:30
Is "snailing"a verb? I suppose I could call them, "Garden Snails Snailing". Don't know whose searching for that though.

How about scrawling!
