Big surprise: Canon T4i

I have read that it takes from 2 to 3 seconds in a T3i for ML to re-establish recording. Two to three seconds lost is a lot of time in an interview or during a concert. I understand that the T4i continues recording with no interruption or lost frames. I am hopeful that there will be a ML version for the T4i by December 2013.

Correct... It takes 1 sec. for the T3i - the T4i is seamless.

The T4i will overheat, but it's not nearly as bad as the T2i was. In moderate temperature, it works without overheating, but if the ambient temp is high, it will.

I guess they all will but, I've stressed the hell out of mine in the last 45 days, one of which was a wedding that my shooting day started at 8:30am at the brides home, and ended at 1:00am the next morning after the reception.

•There was NO airconditioning at the brides home temp 86 degrees +

• A/C in the Catholic church was almost non existent - temp inside 88 degrees+

• Formal pictures on Church grounds temp 104 degrees+ in the shade.

• Formal pictures at reception location outdoors 106 degrees+ in the shade.

The only place that was comfortable the entire shoot was inside the reception venue at 72 degrees.

I worked the hell out of the bodies both stills (RAW) and video, not once did I have an issue with the heat, on the hottest day on record for LA on Sept 15th.

I have also shot 2 interviews in the last 10 days - no issues with extended recording / heat.

I don't think the "overheating" is necessarily a "physical temperature" issue, but could also happen in certain color temperature situations.

While shooing the following shot in a very comfortable A/C'ed room with very bright sunlight as my primary light source with room fluorescents mixed in, my T3i would "overheat" within 3 seconds.

I was able to get it to record only after changing the white balance and adjusting my shutter speed to cut down the amount of sunlight exposing the shot.

Go figure.

I wrote to BHphoto to inquire about "Black Friday" specials. They did not know if the T4i was going to be on sale. Nevertheless, "Black Friday" and "Black Monday" are so close that I am going to wait 4 more weeks. No hurry, my T2i w/o ML works fine.

Now that the T2i has been discontinued and with the announcement of the 6D, the price of the T3i body has dropped to $499 retail. I'm seeing near new T2i's on eBay for $200 to $250. I think I might get one as a second body.

I should have purchase my T4i before Sandy. Now I do not know if BHPhoto and its inventory was damaged with salt water!

My my... I am sure that eventually they as others will recover. I am also sure that this is not their major concern right now.

So now the T2i and T3i are disposable cameras like the GoPro ;) If they get damaged ok well not much of a loss.

Who wants to buy my lightly used 7D?
