Premiere CC, AE CC, PJPEG Render Gamma issue?

Mizomook if you were using sony vegas to downconvert 4K directly to 1080p miraizon prores it isn't miraizons fault that the footage was soft i can assure you,its sony vegas that does an awful job at that under certain circumstances (that i havent yet figured out which) .
My 1080p miraizon dericed from 1080p footage from all my cameras is excellent but for 4K i use workarounds just like you, i export to blackmagic uncompressed avi 8 or 10 bit and using a different program i batch convert all these to 4K prores .

Really? I have ZERO problems exporting anything else from Vegas. True whether downconverting or 1:1 conversions. Also, the Miraizon issue I reported was also when exporting from AE CC. Not Vegas, although the results are the same. Exporting PJPEG from Vegas is very nearly a 1:1 result (when viewed at 400-800%) but exporting PJPEG from AE shows horrid changes in color (mostly greens but also affects others). Exporting uncompressed from AE does not exhibit any problems, so that's what it's got to be.

All my problems are resolution independent. Doesn't matter whether I downconvert or not.

Interesting.Looks like i should like into it more, although i did extensive* testing with miraizon.

*Extensive...Well...sort of...

Miraizon is soft. Its not near the quality of the original Apple ProRes422HQ. Some guys from a television company did some extensive tests with screenshots. Original Apple ProRes is still the king but a shame it's not available for everyone on Windows. But maybe in the future. Redcine X already integrated it in their Windows App but they've a deal with Apple.

I dont know,i haven't noticed any softness issues with miraizon at 1080p.The original prores isn't a very sophisticated compression that people haven't managed to brake down when they reversed-engineered the codec.I'll do a test a guess, maybe im wrong but i have 3 different workflows to export prores and even using cameras that natively record in prores and i haven't noticed the slightest drop of quality unless we are talking test lab examination differences which i can not notice.

P.S Prores is an apple totem forget it being officially offered in any other os.

Daniel I'm so happy to hear that you agree with the softness. Nice to hear that the TV guys' tests corroborated. Although I would rather hear that I'm daft and just "doing it wrong" ....

I had no issues with prores from miraizon being soft (only using it for 4k), and I've done a few tests myself with the exact clips and did the pixel peeping (Trademarked). I really disliked the photojpg codec quality compared to the prores (either flavor of generic vs apple real).

I searched and couldn't find the television tests the guys did, link me.

This is all I could really find... and it seems V2 fixed all the problems he had.

haven't checked out yer link yet Scott, but I found that v2 did help ... but not enough, and I went over to Linus' house to do some test renders on his Mac using the same footage we saw Miraizon looks like dog poo while "real" ProRes just looks like the intended output. Sometimes have banding issues with PJPEG, but rarely (can usually fix it with upping the project bit depth) and in those cases Miraizon is better, and if I had more clips needing the "beauty effect" softening that would be great (would also help with my misty forest aerial becasue too much detail or contrast kills the mysterious mist look, so softening is fine there too.. Sadly I don't even have the install files for v2 anymore ... the company went belly up ... so no help as far as getting it on my other machine or if I have to totally reinstall stuff to make my AE work properly I'm hosed...

Nuke X looks pretty awesome but "just a TEENSY bit out of my price range ...
