Rivendell, a location from Lord of the Rings, is located at Kaitoke, near Wellington, New Zealand.
A series of bush walks around the area show off the lovely scenery of Middle Earth.
Filming was started in 1999, with extensive sets built. They were mostly removed after filming with only a few structures left in place as per agreement.

It is also the location of Wellington's main water supply river.
