Description:
Totem poles I will be showing are from the Ketchikan area of Southeastern Alaska. The poles are made to represent a history , stories , and mythology of the native people.

The two totem pole parks I like the best in ketchikan are the Totem Pole State Park and Potlatch. The two parks are next to each other and free admission. Both parks are heavily visited by the cruise ship tours and the passengers walk from pole to pole and given a canned talk on each.

The carving tools are a simple adz, gouge and straight knife. and a pole may take a year or more to carve by hand.
