AMD Radeon HD8870 or Nvida GeForce GT720?

My video card has problems and I have a choice of the HD8870 or GT720 both 2 GB memory. I use Adobe Premiere Pro, After After Effects, Photoshop CS6 and CC. For those who really know what would be the best for HD and 4K footage work and processing?

Go nvidia by any means. Amd's drivers are total crap. I have not had any more issues since i installed my gtx670 and is fully supported by adobe.

My new computer has AMD Radeon R9 270 and something wrong with running two monitors. Dell says that card is back-ordered so are offering the HD 8870 or GT 720. I believe both are OEM cards. From what I can find the HD 8870 has better specs. When Premiere started using GPU acceleration, the process was exclusively done via CUDA which is limited to NVIDIA-based video cards. With Premiere Pro CS6 version 6.0.2 and Premiere Pro CC, Adobe introduced GPU acceleration via OpenCL in addition to CUDA which allows AMD cards to be used.

I believe the r9 270 is rebadged to HD 8870.

If you already know which way you are going, then why ask?

Andy the question was more on actual cards and not just manufacturer. Since Adobe effectively uses both OpenCl and Cuda both manufacturers can benefit. I can find info on the HD 8870 but very little about the GT 720. I was asking if anyone had experience good or bad on either cards them self. So because I was not given the option on the gtx670 but only these two. Most of the limited info I can find on the gt 720 is use in laptops. Agree there are better cards than both and eventually I will probably upgrade.

Perhaps you can't find specs simply because it does not exist. (Yet) It is only a rumor. If you are going to spend money for an upgrade, why not pay a few buck more and get a real card: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780

A couple of things though by such an upgrade: physical size of the card may require a larger case as well as a power supply upgrade in wattage. Not having researched the case size you have, it would be something you need to take into consideration.

Ya I think the GT 720 is some kind of Dell OEM and that is why I can't find much about it. And yes the new computer tower is smaller than the ones a few years ago making a tight fit for some cards. Dell only gave me those two choices. Since this is a brand new computer and they have to back order the R9 270 card I'm going to ask them to research a little better and find an upgrade that I can actually compare stats to. I will alo ask if I can pay the difference and upgrade the card like you suggested. Thanks for the suggestions.

Never heard about a GT720 but if you are looking for a real gpu card check the charts in the link below to see if your power supply is strong enough:
