Incredible test footage with the C300
Just can't justtify $20K. We'll see what they do with the price when it's released.

Yes, this is incredible footage. ISO 20.000 and almost no visible grain. As a wildlife filmmaker this could just be an amazing tool during dusk and dawn or night (just insane!)
My brown bear clips is shot almost entirely at night (even summer nights here in scandinavia is quite bright) but many sequences was unusable due to high and noisy grain when I shot this clips with a Canon xlh1 (hdv) camcorder. I can just imagine how this clips would have come out with a c300!

But its too pricey and the lack of 1080p50 is a drawback too.

No visible grain on vimeo... remember that :-)
The naked girl shot has a lot of grainy stuff going on in the black area... maybe they tried to distract everyone with the naked woman!

They have designed 4k lenses for this camera. I wonder if that suggests that normal lenses will not perform well enough for it's resolution, or if they are just more cinematic lenses.

from the looks of things the 24-70L lens works great on it.

4k needs to go away :-)

As I understand it you can use regular ef-lenses and also ef-s lenses on the c300 with ef-mount.
I don´t think that quality lenses like th L lenses will degrade the image in any way, nor high quality ef-s lenses.

I have been using ef-lenses through a adapter on the canon xlh1 for years. In some occasions I experienced that the lens was breathing. The long tele lenses like 300mm f2.8 and 500mm f4.0 had this problem quite often.

I don´t have any clue how those lenses will perform on the c300 regarding breathing.

Looks ridiculously impressive. Maybe if sales pick up a little I can afford one by the year 2017.

I guess a photo resolution is higher than 4k, so it would not make sense that there would be issues.

At the cost, I wonder what market Canon is targeting for this camera. The large cinema wannaby (like me) that purchased th 5d M2 is not the market that can afford $20,000 on a camera. That is four times my car's value. Eager to hear actual cost after release.

I wonder about the price too. Heard something about us-price will be announced in a week or two. Anyway 20K is way out of my budget.

Scarlet X - Is this guy been untruthful? He said in January that the Scarlet X was going to be around $6,000 (at least for the brain + fix lens). Did Red raise the price because they knew that the Canon C300 was going to be priced at $20K. Does Canon has some blame on the increase from 6k to almost 10K for the Scarlet -X?
