Big surprise: Canon T4i

Can someone please answer this question:
What happens if I take a lens for T4i and use it on 5D 2? Will it work?

^ No. But you can work it the other way around....so an L series that works on a 5D will work on a T4i

Actually the functionality of the STM (STM Lens Support for Quiet AF - the new series specifically for the T4i) physically will still fit, but just won't have the auto focus function working on other models from what I have read so far. Canon of course does not recommend doing that as they prefer you buy more lenses.

Ah yes the new STM lenses, I hadn't thought about that. I'm quite happy with manual focus on L series glass.

A friend of mine got the T4i and I spent some time playing with it yesterday. Very nice camera, much better than my T2i. Still has a screwed up BIOS with on intermediate ISOs, etc... but Magic Lantern is working on the T4i in beta, so as soon as I can buy one myself, I'll upgrade to Magic Lantern to get the features I need.

The auto-focus while shooting video with an STM lens works, but it's not perfect. It takes some getting used to and you REALLY want to watch your focus points setting. I can see this feature as being very useful for a documentary I'm shooting.

BTW, I rented the Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS lens to shoot a 4-day music festival and OMG! it's the best lens I've ever used. If anyone needs organs or knows someone who can use a kidney or partial liver, let me know.... I want to get this lens.

What I'd like to know is if the 4 is any better with video quality. Does it still "line skip" in video mode?

I second that question....did they fix the aliasing like they did on the 5D mk III?
LUXORPYRAMID 27 Jun 2012 12:19
"did they fix the aliasing like they did on the 5D mk III" - Reviews say "no" and also say that the video quality looks the same as the 7D.

If Mosaic Engineering is working on filters for the T2i and T3i, they will certainly built one for the T4i.

I'm still waiting for David Cubanski to get back to me on the Mosaic filter for the 7D which is taking a while to get to market - so It might take a while and I wonder how the image actually degrades. It would be good to see a comparison of the 5D MkIII and the mk II with the mosaic filter.

No, the video quality is the same as the T2i/T3i. Still uses line skipping.
