Mp4 or mov? What prefer buyers?

While you avoid .MOV whenever you can, I hope you do avoid your $10-per-clip totally and join our Bandwagon of high-price, by free will of course.

@ Overhead,

You mean Mp4 is easier to edit and better quality than mov 264? How about file size? Is it smaller or similar as h264 mov? I use mov 264 because of small file size and shorter upload time only.

what about prores?

There was a time, if I remember correctly that mp4 files were almost un-acceptable in P5 because they were associated to cheap consumer cameras. Now with 4k the story may be different. At least in my GH3 which records in AVCHD, MP4, MOV IPB and MOV All-intra; the worst quality video is produced when recording to MP4; or at least it looks that way in the monitor.

@ cinecameratv

Exactly, P5 did not accepted mp4 before, but now they do, strange. Codes like AVCHD, MP4 were curse word in P5 before. Now people change their mind. Tomorrow AVCHD will be OK too, so I can upload directly from my camera to P5 without converting.

:D

Correction to earlier post, I did mean h264, my apologies. Simply doesn't seem much point in converting AVCHD to MOV

Apparantly and bizarrely 100percent photo-jpg is actually counter productive. A number of agents ask for max 95percent. I think most people here use between 80 and 95. I seem to remember pond5 not wanting 100 be ause of the extra file size with no gain in quality.
Normstock 18 May 2014 17:57
@WeatherENG you can do 80 to 90% quality without any loss in quality of the clip, another agency was suggesting 70%

For after effects I go down to 55%

Is there any solution to get Proress on PC? That is the only format I would use in combination with .mov.

http://www.miraizon.com/products/codecsoverview.html. I use it at work on my PC to export ProRes.
