Three Weeks to reject all of my clips ....

Tkboom 25 Feb 2015 22:58
It was a lesson in what not to do .. it was learned. If you had a shot from inside of a train shooting outwards whilst moving .. that clip could be 3 minutes long of relatively the same content. Does that mean that the buying party should or will use the entire 3 mins? They'll probably edit it down to what they need. On slider/linear movements people will probably use just the amount they want. As for encouraging me to sell somewhere else, not much of an encouragement ...

TkBoom, you came in complaining that you were put behind by three weeks on what I'm guessing is your first submission. Instead of taking all the advice you got and thanking those folks for their time, you're still complaining about the same thing. That clients should be able to edit out dead material and that 3 minutes isn't unreasonable for a clip. Perhaps those things weren't mentioned to you or perhaps you missed it; it doesn't matter because now you know. You are not going to change anyone's mind at P5 so why all the consternations? Accept that those are some of the rules and move on.

yup ... forced to accept ... ty

Another couple suggestions:

This is a very helpful (and patient!) community of artists/producers and buyers. Be patient with us helping you be patient with learning the process. Stock is no get rich quick scheme - certainly not sure-fire, either ....it takes forever to get anything, and it often is frustrating and fickle, but those who stick it out in the long run win.

If you have questions about the validity of a clip post it (best in the Artist's Forum) by using the button under each forum post window "Clip" and paste in the clip item number...then in next dialogue window select "3" so it plays, as that's the only way we can share un-curated clips.

The other thing to do is spend a good amount of time perusing and browsing around looking at the clips of others here. Look at stuff that is similar to your style, as well as stuff you're not into or cannot do - have a well-rounded idea of what's out there, what's missing (you might find a niche!) Do various sorting (by sales, especially - paying attention to what does NOT sell, and what sells a lot) and look at the clip details...length, content, keywords, amount of views, sales, etc.

Above all, be patient and kind and helpful....it goes a long way, and both ways, at that.

Good luck!

Thank you Mizamook .. that is very helpful. I will take your advice. I am not really looking for a get rich quick type of thing, more of another means to generate income to put back into the gear habit.

about fades, i contribute music here...i have some clips on which i did use fades, both at the end and the beginning. i know it's not advisable, but didnt have rejections on them..

I don't understand why you expect the buyer to do your work for you.
Your job is to supply a video within the rules set by Pond 5.
The buyer does not need to waste time editing out a fade in.
You are being paid to do the work

LivingroomClassics, I think music fade and video fade are two different things in this business.
Video isn't expected to have black frames before or after the clip ends.

When automated programs are used to capture a still from the clip for reference as thumbnails, that first look that clients will get of your video, and if it turns out to be a black frame, that serves no one well.

At the very least IS should be the fastest on the planet for reviews. Since they only give $6-$8 per HD video I'm sure a lot of people stopped uploading there. I know I did. So reviews should be fast since they have less coming in."
