Software can batch procession my 4K FHD to native Mpeg4?

Here are our official video submission specification guidelines:

http://help.pond5.com/hc/en-us/articles/200944183-Video-Upload-Specifications-

You'll note in the "Codecs" section where it reads:

We do not accept the following codecs:

(highly compressed, low quality)

-Motionjpeg

-Avi

-Non native mp4

To paraphrase: Mpeg4 .mp4 = fine. Mpeg4 .mov = bad

When compressing that codec we have seen far too many problems so it was mandated a while ago not to accept them unless they were mpeg4 MP4 files (which we hope are camera native clips).

Really need to re-think MJPEG, there are very useful existing clips that were interlaced and required MJPEG. I understand limiting new ones but the existing have great value still and will always. MJPEG does not mean low quality.

So if the camera is to record at h.264/mp4 leave it as is.
If the camera is set for h.264/mov and you upload pjpeg/mov is acceptable .... right? Because this is what I do all the time.

Jonathan,

600 clips of mine were rejected. You mean I should re-do it and submit again. Hmmm..
Why did P5 don't warn us earlier instead just rejected them brutally. Yes, I mean BRUTALLY...
dapoopta 3 Nov 2015 15:46
that is rough. if they were previously accepting those...
hopefully they didn't remove previous material.

I agree with you Don, standard for interlaced was MJPG codec.
Mizamook 3 Nov 2015 18:56
That is brutal.

So here's a detail I am not understanding: I have here an Inspire1 that has a camera on it. In the menu, I can change the extension from .mov to .mp4 It makes no difference to the actual codec, or how the computer responds to the file. If I shot a clip and decided not to make it PJPEG or ProRes, (in other words decided not to mess with it or trim it) and upload it directly, and uploaded the .mov file, it would be rejected?

Why? It is camera native.

I think they reject it because if you rerender H.264 it will be recompressed that means the footage will be degraded in quality. On the other hand they sell downscaled 1080p H.264 *.MOV files from the 4k source material.

On the safe side, better render in PhotoJpeg.
Beckhusen 4 Nov 2015 08:28
Don't know if it's clever to post it, ...... but i just got my clips reviewed. All is fine, only 1 is rejected with the phrase of non-native codec and so on. Now, let's say it's a curator bug, because all my clips were rendered in the same way and codec which is always accepted since a long time. Same curator who rejected Pats 600 clips!

Last not least (i'll try to avoid wrong words) it's a senseless rejection (phrase), because when we upload original mp4 in 4k Pond5 as itself downconvert to non-native mov codec.

So please Jonathan, clear it again for us all and also for curators!
When Pond5 downconvert mp4 to mov, why we artists get rejections when we make the same?
BunFest 4 Nov 2015 16:16
Jonathan,

Please tell me if "Apple PhotoJpeg" is accepted. ???

BTW MotionJpeg was accepted before, now more more codes are banned in P5..
