Photo curators are STILL confused about titles!

I would like this information too, please!

Does this mean that 3d or 4k could be detrimental to searches?

Atomazul, let me guess, that if there is such a category "bad contributor rating", it only affects the way your files are being curated, not your search results. I cannot believe that argumentative contributors (like me) are being punished.

Hello everyone.

Let me clarify this issue since there seems to be some confusion here.

This is an acceptable title with numbers: Statue of Liberty at Night 01286
This is not an acceptable title: Statue 1
This is not an acceptable title: MVI_7855 or IMG_5642

3D, 4K, etc... do NOT negatively affect search results but having just MVI_7855 or Statue 1 is really not helpful in having your clips found easily; stills, footage, AE, music, SFX, all fall into this. No one here has to go back and remove numbers from their portfolios.

Also, please understand that curators do not reject clips that are submitted with numbers, we simply send them back so that you can make the changes and re-submit. If we send back a clip and request a better title multiple times we may then reject the clip/image.

And to answer the most recent post in this thread, Pond5 does NOT punish anyone. We welcome criticism and feedback. It is one of the most important ways we can improve our products and services.

Again, thanks for the communication. But now, what you are saying contradicts what I've been experiencing from multiple curators, and what Jonathan just said earlier in this thread.

For example, I had images named "Chacchoben Mayan Ruins 1", and "Chacchoben Mayan Ruins 2", they seem to fall into the category of your first example as "acceptable". These are the types of image titles using numbers that have been consistently sent back to me to change. They were NOT titled "Ruins 1" or "MVI_6585". I NEVER title like that, of course those are vague or irrelevant titles.

It's not just the fact that this is the way I've been doing things for years with sound effects, music clips and videos and suddenly there's a problem with it NOW, and only with pictures. My major concern was the repeated claim by folks from Pond5 that NUMBERS in the title will negatively affect search results. There is clearly still a misunderstanding about this, since now we're right back to you saying that doing what I was doing was actually ACCEPTABLE.

I really hate beating this dead horse, on some levels it seems pretty ridiculous, but, I strongly believe there should be a bottom-line 100% clear answer to this. There just hasn't been yet.

So, to sum it up, according to Jonathan, his supervisors and at least two curators, "Chacchoben Mayan Ruins 1" is unacceptable and my search results will be negatively affected because of that number. According to Curator2, it's acceptable and there's no need to go back and remove numbers, and I assume by that you mean that it does NOT negatively affect search results. (If it did, of course we WOULD need to go back and remove those numbers). Am I missing something here? Which is it?

And lastly, I brought up the "contributor rating" factor because a curator did so with me during the course of my back and forth. I wasn't trying to spur a conspiracy theory, just wanted clarification about it's affect over search results, and if it's improvable.

Most importantly, I love Pond5 and have nothing negative to say about anyone involved with it. This isn't an argument, its supposed to be a constructive discussion, haha.

I'm so glad Curator2 outlined the title policy in such detail. I, too, have had "rejections" for putting numbers in titles. Like many others, I'm sure, I use these all important numbers in my titles to identify my own clips on my hard drive. While this hasn't happened to me recently, I'm always worried that new curators get thrown into the review mix with their own policies in mind.

Please make sure all your curators are working off the same page in the Pond5 review guidelines book.

I've actually seen clips here with KEYWORDS as titles (like this one), which when reading make no sense, but perhaps when searching, they would be helpful.
